We had a birthday in our house today. Birthdays here mean waking up to a room filled with balloons, jumping into mum and dad's bed for cuddles and presents....all 8 of us squished in together...sometime around 6.30 am. (yawn!). They mean big family breakfasts and today we celebrated with french toast topped with fresh strawberries and drizzled with maple syrup. Yum.
Miss G was delighted with her presents - a vintage style quilt sewed with scraps from her old dresses and lots of love...some old Enid Blyton books (hunted for far and wide) - The St Clare and Malory Towers series, a bike bell, a feather boa, a stamp set, and a ball gown designed and sewn by her sisters.
We ate pistachio and ginger creams for morning tea and headed out the door to the local pool where hubby was able to meet us for a swim.
Happy birthday gorgeous. Life is all the more wonderful with you in it.

ReplyDeleteMel....gush over the quilt!!! Love it! Well done to you domestic goddess! You put me to shame...I am still supposedly making one for little O...
I hope you have all had a lovely day together.
P.s I thought I had commented on your vintage finds but turns out it musn't have worked...am off to go and post there...
xo Rach
Beautiful pictures Mel and the food looks delish!
ReplyDeleteSarah, the biscuits were so yummy, which is just as well considering they took a while to make....& I only ended up with 7 when the recipe said 14!! I think mine were a tad on the large side, will have to make them smaller next time. Made with real ginger though so just divine! x
ReplyDeleteRach, domestic goddess?! I think not! (j will confirm that!) I'm so happy with the quilt though...just a few hairy moments when I had to stop and sip some tea (!) but overall it was super quick to make, which is the key to any good project I think! x
Thanks Ruby. I am a sucker for vintage quilts...but have never had the patience to learn quilting. This one is the cheats version! :) x
